Located above the village of Saratoga on unirrigated hillsides in the eastern Santa Cruz Mountains, the vineyards capitalize on the sunny days, moderate nights, and a long growing season which brings this appellation due recognition for world class wine production.
After George Cooper finished flying the P-47 in WWII, and finished testing things that fly for NASA, he decided to make wine. He made wine for 20 years before he decided to start selling it. That was the year 1994.
These are the types of wineries we're always telling you about. Cooper-Garrod produces only about 3,000 cases a year. If they don’t like it, it's not going into one of their bottles. George's nephew oversees vineyard operations (as well as a 150-horse on-site riding stables) his son, daughter, and daughter in-law seem to do everything else. This is a working family farm, and has been since 1893.
We at AVAWine.com are very proud to bring you the selections of Cooper-Garrod. We always pay for shipping and you're not going to find products like this anywhere (except in the Santa Cruz Mountains).
